What Do You Call "Success"?
Edmond Family Counseling, Inc. is celebrating 35 years of service to our community this month. Thousands of people from every type of background, every socioeconomic level, every age and circumstance have walked through our doors during those 35 years. Our agency has offered respect, support, information, education, and counseling services to all of them. If we were not the appropriate service, we have provided assistance in order to help find the right organization or level of care. We have worked with other social service agencies, civic organizations, churches, businesses, schools and our city government to help meet the needs of the citizens of our community. The question is, “Does this constitute success”?
George Washington Carver once stated that “how far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong, because someday in life you will have been all of these. This statement certainly gives one pause to contemplate your life and how you have treated others. At Edmond Family Counseling, our clients are asked to evaluate our staff and services. Comments from these clients tell us that we have shown kindness, warmth, caring, and compassion to those who have sought our services. From comments of children to those of individuals in their “senior” years, EFC is described as a success.
Children’s Comments:
“I love it here!”
“I love myself and the world.”
“I love your work!”
“It smells really good in here.”
“I like your toys.”
Adults’ Comments:
“I enjoy talking with my counselor. I have peace with her.”
“Thanks”
“I feel like I have direction in my life due to my counselor’s commitment to my recovery.”
“With my therapist’s skill and gifts, she has helped me overcome fear, anxiety, and to recover my love of life."
"Even though I had doubts about my recovery, she never did. She gave me methods for coping and strategies that worked. I am so thankful for EFC and all the encouraging, caring people that work there. When life looked very scary and death seemed a better option, God put my therapist in my life and that was the blessing I so desperately needed. Thank you, EFC.”
“I'm not a patient but I did come in your office to use the phone, and I received more help than I even asked for."
"GOD BLESS YOU! Thank you so much.”
“I think this place is great! I also think you have good counselors.”
We are grateful for the wonderful words of praise from our clients. We are proud that our agency has provided an atmosphere of safety and trust and has been proven to provide excellent services that are accessible to anyone in our community. We strive for excellence in all of our service programs and constantly evaluate our level of success.
EFC’s plan is to remain a community educational and counseling resource for Edmond for many years to come.
EFC has “come far” and plans to continue to grow and succeed as our community grows and the needs of our city change with time. It is our commitment to growth and development that keeps us successful through all the stages of life.
“To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.”

Our vision is to meet this level of SUCCESS.
